NSS

NSS stands for National Service Scheme supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The motto of NSS lies in 'Not me but You' which means you before me. Education through Service is the main aim of NSS.

The main objectives of NSS are as follows-
To understand the community in which one works.
Understanding oneself in relation to the community, and involving local people in the community to identify what the community needs.
Cultivate a sense of social and civic responsibility.
Applying knowledge to develop practical solutions to individual and community problems.
Develop skills for group living and sharing responsibilities.
Increase community participation.
To acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes. For example, members can carry out important roles if there is an emergency in the country like natural disasters such as drought, floods, etc.
Practice national integration and social harmony.

The activities of the NSS unit are not limited to the confines of the college. It plays an integral role in the locality by lending a helping hand to people beyond the college by enhancing their holistic development. The NSS unit also tries to increase awareness about cleanliness, personal hygiene as well as the importance of a pollution-free environment. Regular Activities of NSS include 120 hours(yearly), and annual Activities constitute 120 hours, i.e. 7-10 days of special camp. Therefore, a member works a total of 240 hours in the first two years.
